The Helix Highlanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Grossmont Foothillers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Helix is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Helix scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Mount Miguel 76-28 at home. Helix has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.
Helix's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Valerie Marquez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Marquez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordyn McMillan, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Grossmont came up short against Granite Hills on Tuesday and fell 33-26. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Grossmont has scored all season.
Helix has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Grossmont, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.
Helix didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Grossmont in their previous meeting two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 57-51 win. Does Helix have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grossmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
