The Paramus Catholic Paladins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Northern Highlands by a score of 61-58. While losing is never fun, Paramus Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while Northern Highlands is ranked 80th).
Northern Highlands can attribute much of their success to Dylan Deluise, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Deluise scored 15 or more points.
Paramus Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Northern Highlands, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paramus Catholic will challenge Mt. St. Michael Academy at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday. Northern Highlands' road trip will continue as they head out to face Ramsey at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th. Ramsey is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
