Appalachian extended their winning streak to eight on Friday, bumping them up to 8-0. They enjoyed a cozy 34-19 victory over the Ragland Purple Devils. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 27, 2017, but that streak is no more.
Appalachian found their leader in sophomore Colton Caldwell, who rushed for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 105 yards and one TD on only seven passes. Those 213 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Caldwell.
Appalachian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 338 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 187 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
