Windber has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Shade Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Windber focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
Windber can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest. They put the hurt on Moshannon Valley with a sharp 52-31 win. Given Windber's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Black Knights/Damsels are ranked 502nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Windber's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kaylie Gaye, who scored 11 points along with four steals, and Mariah Andrews, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Gaye hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailin Jablon, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Shade, who are still winless after their 16th matchup. They fell to Turkeyfoot Valley Area 48-42.
Windber's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Shade, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.
Everything came up roses for Windber against the Panthers when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 54-21 victory. With Windber ahead 35-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
