Dimond has gone a perfect 10-0 against Bartlett recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lynx will be playing at home against the Golden Bears at 5:30 p.m.
Dimond is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Soldotna, who was ranked first at the time (Dimond was ranked seventh). The Lynx lost 14-8 to the Stars on Friday.
Owen Severson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Severson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Jaden Estigo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Shane Flannery was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Bartlett never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Redington 11-0. The Golden Bears not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 17-5).
Like Dimond, Bartlett also got a great game from a two-way player: Owen Butcher. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Butcher a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Johnny Parker looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Bartlett got a massive performance out of TJ Abner-Esahu, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases and three runs. Those two hits gave Abner-Esahu a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Akito Shimizu, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Dimond's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Bartlett, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.
Dimond got the 'W' in their previous matchup two weeks ago against Bartlett by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Lynx have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
