The Katella Knights will take on the Valley Christian Defenders in a tournament on Wednesday. Katella will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Katella is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Santa Ana on Monday as Katella made off with a 20-3 victory. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Anthony Garcia tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Isaiah Munoz was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Robert Barba, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Katella always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .549. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .517 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Valley Christian's offense. They fell just short of Mayfair by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Defenders were not able to get on the board.
Riley Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs allowed (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
This is the second loss in a row for Valley Christian and nudges their season record down to 2-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Katella, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Both Katella and Valley Christian just can't seem to miss. Katella has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Valley Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
