The Royal Highlanders will challenge the Kennedy Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Kennedy will be up against a hot Royal squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Highlanders blew past Oak Park 18-1 on Friday. Considering the Highlanders have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Caden Sramek made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Sramek was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Royal got a massive performance out of Brady Hewitt, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Hewitt has posted since back in March. Cooper Orme was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Royal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .415. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Park only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Kennedy never let their opponents score on Monday. They came out on top against North Hollywood by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The game marked the Cougars' most dominant victory of the season.
Like Royal, Kennedy also got a great game from a two-way player: Santiago Torres. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Torres also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kennedy is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-14 otherwise. Torres was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Rocky Marin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Royal pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kennedy, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15.
Royal took their victory against Kennedy in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 10-3 score. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
