The Pinewood Panthers entered their tilt with the San Domenico Panthers with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Pinewood strolled past the Panthers with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 56-42. Given Pinewood's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Panthers are ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinewood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Facelo out in front who scored 21 points. Facelo has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jolyn Ding, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Pinewood pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.5 points. As for San Domenico, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-9.
Pinewood won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Notre Dame is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. San Domenico does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
