Pearson O'Neal was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Gray McNeal also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask David Emanuel Academy). Everything went their way against Portal on Wednesday as they made off with an 18-2 victory. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.
Sailor Powell made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Powell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Brody Fleming was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Hudson Starley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
David Emanuel Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory got David Emanuel Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Vidalia Heritage Academy, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Vidalia Heritage Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like David Emanuel Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
