Fruita Monument has gone a perfect 10-0 against Grand Junction recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fruita Monument 2.3, Grand Junction 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Saturday, Fruita Monument made easy work of Durango and carried off a 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Lexi Hulet was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Addison Cutshall, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Grand Junction came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors, sneaking past 5-3. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly two runs.
Kloe Donahue spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Grand Junction saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Clark, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Fruita Monument's record is now 17-4. As for Grand Junction, their record now sits at 16-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fruita Monument hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. However, it's not like Grand Junction struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fruita Monument skirted past Grand Junction 1-0 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
