The West Aurora Blackhawks will square off against the St. Charles East Fighting Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Aurora will be strutting in after a win while St. Charles East will be coming in after a defeat.
On Tuesday, West Aurora was able to grind out a solid victory over Westmont, taking the game 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blackhawks.
Henry Hinkle made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Hinkle was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexander Oscar, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jake Niedzwiedz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
West Aurora always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, St. Charles East didn't have quite enough to beat Naperville North on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Fighting Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
St. Charles East also got a good showing from Gavin Fuscone, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, St. Charles East saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Arend, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Antonio Perez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
St. Charles East's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for West Aurora, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
