Basketball Recap: Tussey Mountain Piles Up the Points Against West Branch

Tussey Mountain won the last time they faced West Branch and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tussey Mountain Titans simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the West Branch Warriors 46-12. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-5.

Tussey Mountain's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karah Husick, who posted six points in addition to six assists and three steals. Husick has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Adyson Weyandt, who put up seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Tussey Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Tussey Mountain's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for West Branch, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tussey Mountain will host Claysburg-Kimmel at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Branch, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Juniata Valley at 6:30 p.m.
