The Lowpoint-Washburn Wildcats won the last time they faced the Galva Wildcats, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Lowpoint-Washburn walked away with a 64-53 win over Galva.
Clayton Grebner was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendin Melton, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Galva lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Blake Stahl, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Braxton Rylander, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Galva were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lowpoint-Washburn only racked up six assists.
Lowpoint-Washburn pushed their record up to 13-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Galva, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowpoint-Washburn won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Cuba/Spoon River Valley is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Galva, they will head out on the road to face off against Annawan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Annawan presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Galva in Illinois (Annawan is ranked 263rd, while Galva is ranked 654th).
