The Chula Vista Spartans will face off against the Mar Vista Mariners at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chula Vista's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Castle Park. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
The result came thanks to Angel Verdejo's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brandon Lucero was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Martinez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Mar Vista waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Raiders. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Jayden Tillman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mar Vista is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-12 otherwise. Tillman was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Snow, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Aden Duran was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Mar Vista's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chula Vista, their win bumped their record up to 15-10-2.
Chula Vista suffered a grim 18-4 defeat to Mar Vista in their previous meeting on Thursday. Will the Spartans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
