The Cranston East Thunderbolts suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Wednesday. They were the victim of a rough 65-42 defeat at the hands of Moses Brown. Cranston East was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-15.
Mya Jiminez and Jayna Gunderway certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Jiminez scored 24 points, while Gunderway scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gunderway has scored all season.
Lauren Bousquet was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals for Moses Brown. Bousquet has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times she's played. Jaelynn Perez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Cranston East bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Moses Brown, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cranston East will take on Mount St. Charles Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Addie Johnson and Jiminez. As for Moses Brown, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Woonsocket at 6:00 p.m. Woonsocket comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
