Baseball Recap: Academy of Richmond County Wins Going Away Against Cross Creek

Academy of Richmond County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cross Creek, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Musketeers blew past the Razorbacks 15-0 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Musketeers, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Brooks Dickinson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Academy of Richmond County got a massive performance out of Sam Dunaway, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Dunaway is becoming a predictor of the Musketeers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Skedsvold, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Academy of Richmond County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cross Creek only posted an OBP of .143.

The victory made it two in a row for Academy of Richmond County and bumps their season record up to 8-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Cross Creek, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Looking ahead, Cross Creek will face off against Howard at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Academy of Richmond County will be paying especially close attention to the Razorbacks' game: after the Razorbacks faces off against the Huskies, they'll take on Academy of Richmond County again at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
