St. Francis Borgia and Union are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2015, but likely not for long. The Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Francis Borgia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
St. Francis Borgia proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Washington 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since September 18, 2024.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Union sidestepped Pacific for a 6-5 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Evie Poggas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Ali Thwing was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Keely Otto was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
St. Francis Borgia's record now sits at 11-4. As for Union, their record is now 7-3.
Union's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Francis Borgia has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. It's a different story for Union, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain St. Francis Borgia's hitters?
St. Francis Borgia couldn't quite get it done against Union in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
