Listed below are the top 10 Texas players from the class of 2018 according to
247Sports Composite rankings. All 10 are considered Top 100 recruits in the country.
1. CB – Anthony Cook, Lamar (Houston)The 6-foot, 170-pounder is the No. 10 recruit nationally overall. He's got 35 FBS offers, with Ohio State, Texas and LSU among his top suitors.
2. S – BJ Foster, Angleton (Angleton, Texas)The 6-1, 188-pounder has 26 offers and is considered the top safety in the country. Most consider him a lock to pick Texas over Ohio State, LSU and Michigan.
3. WR – Brennan Eagles, Alief Taylor (Houston)The 6-4, 214-pounder has 28 offers. He's considered the fourth best receiver in the country. Like Foster, Texas is his likely college of choice, but don't count out Clemson, Florida, Florida State or LSU.
4. WR – Jalen Preston, ManvelAt 6-2, 212 pounds, Preston isn't only a big, physical receiver, but he is also fleet. That's why he's considered the sixth best receiver in the country, 38th top recruit overall and has 22 college offers, led by Texas A&M.
5. S/WR – Caden Sterns, Steele (Cibolo)There's not much the 6-1, 192-pound all-around athlete can't do on the football field. An LSU commit, Sterns is ranked the fourth best safety in the country. He has 14 offers.
6. CB – Jalen Green, Houston Heights (Houston)The 6-1, 171-pounder is a 4-star recruit, ranked the 11th best cornerback and 64th best overall recruit in the country. He has 36 offers, including ones from Alabama, Texas, Arkansas, Clemson and LSU.
7. WR – Al'vonte Woodard, Lamar (Houston)The second Lamar standout on the list and third wide receiver, Woodard is a long, lean 6-1, 193-pound standout with 28 offers. Ranked the 11th best receiver and 68th best recruit overall in the country, he seems destined for either Texas or Alabama.
8. S – Leon O'Neal Jr., Cypress Springs (Cypress)The 6-1, 190-pounder is ranked the sixth best safety and 77th-best recruit overall in the country. He has 31 offers, but figures to stay in state, going to either Texas A&M or Texas.
9. DE – Max Wright, Katy Taylor (Katy)The 6-4, 270-pounder is considered the third best at his position in the country and No. 83 overall. He has 19 offers, and like O'Neal, figures to stay in state. Texas A&M and Texas appear his top choices.
10. TE – Mustapha Muhammad, Ridge Point (Missouri City)The 6-4, 235-pounder looks like he will take his talents out of state. Muhammad, who has 34 offers, appears to be leaning heavily toward Michigan.
