Basketball Game Preview: Dietrich Blue Devils vs. Carey Panthers

Dietrich has gone 8-2 against Carey recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Dietrich Blue Devils will welcome the Carey Panthers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Dietrich's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.

Dietrich is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Glenns Ferry with a sharp 91-69 win on Friday. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 22 points or more this season.

Connor Perkins was his usual excellent self, going 12 for 26 on his way to 31 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. His evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Torgerson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 boards.

Dietrich smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Carey unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a blow against Butte County, falling 68-40. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Dietrich's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.9 points per game. As for Carey, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.

Dietrich came up short against Carey when the teams last played back in January of 2022, falling 76-68. Thankfully for Dietrich, Carsn Perkes (who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
