The Cameron County Raiders will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Clarion Area Bobcats at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cameron County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Cameron County suffered a tough 50-26 defeat at the hands of Coudersport. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cameron County has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Cameron County had strong showings from Ava Hilfiger, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds, and Trinity Earle, who scored two points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Earle grabbed two or more steals.
Meanwhile, Clarion Area beat Clarion-Limestone 43-32 on Friday. The win was just what Clarion Area needed coming off of a 53-31 loss in their prior match.
Cameron County has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Clarion Area, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Cameron County came up short against Clarion Area when the teams last played back in February of 2015, falling 45-37. Thankfully for Cameron County, Maci Thornton (who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
