The Fontana Steelers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Grand Terrace Titans at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Last Thursday, Fontana was able to grind out a solid win over Eisenhower, taking the game 44-36.
Destiney Rentie had a dynamite game for Fontana, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rentie has scored at least 25% of Fontana's points. Another player making a difference was Akami Garrett, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Grand Terrace has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 26 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 51-21 victory over Jurupa Hills at home. Given Grand Terrace's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Jurupa Hills is ranked 1029th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grand Terrace relied on the efforts of Mikhia Anderson, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals, and Jayleen Barajas, who scored 16 points along with 9 steals. The contest was Barajas' ninth in a row with at least ten points.
Their wins bumped Fontana to 11-2 and Eisenhower to 2-2.
Everything went Fontana's way against Grand Terrace in their previous matchup back in January as Fontana made off with a 47-23 win. Will Fontana repeat their success, or does Grand Terrace have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
