Baseball Recap: Lakeside Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Lakeside won against Tri-Cities on Saturday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Lakeside didn't even let Tri-Cities on the board, marking Lakeside's second-straight 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Luke Barron made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

In other pitching news, Noah Hathaway looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since March 1st.

Back at the plate, Aidan Conrad was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Andrew Booth was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Lakeside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory (which was Lakeside's third in a row) raised their record to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tri-Cities, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeside will square off against Woodward Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lakeside's pitchers better be ready for this one: Woodward Academy has averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. As for Tri-Cities, they will challenge Shiloh at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri-Cities is facing Shiloh at the right time seeing as Shiloh is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
