For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Central and Buchanan meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Grizzlies took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. The loss continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.

Marcus Nolen and Marcelo Rodriguez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Nolen scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Rodriguez scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base was Rodriguez's first of the season.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Buchanan, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Looking ahead, Central will be taking part in a tournament against Madera at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Buchanan, they will take on Hoover in a tournament on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bears 3, the Patriots 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
