Centennial is 10-0 against Thayer Central since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Centennial Broncos will be playing at home against the Thayer Central Titans at 7:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Centennial's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Thayer Central has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
On Tuesday, Centennial was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to Fillmore Central. While losing is never fun, Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Fillmore Central is ranked 19th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Devin Slawnyk, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Hirschfeld, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Thayer Central came up short against Tri County on Tuesday and fell 49-42. Thayer Central has not had much luck with Tri County recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Centennial's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4. As for Thayer Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Centennial beat Thayer Central 55-48 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Centennial repeat their success, or does Thayer Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
