The Lakin Broncs typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Scott Beavers proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 47-36 victory over the Broncs. The victory was all the more spectacular given Scott's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Lakin is ranked 23rd).
Jackson Rumford was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 33 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Brooks Bailey was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Scott's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7. As for Lakin, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-3.
Scott will take on Holcomb at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Scott focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday. As for Lakin, they will head out on the road to square off against Elkhart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakin is coming into the game with three straight losses on the road, meaning Elkhart will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
