The Arcadia Apaches will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against the Rio Mesa Spartans at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.
Arcadia waltzed into their contest on Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They never let Crescenta Valley onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's two games straight that Arcadia has won by exactly one goal.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Rio Mesa had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They beat the Condors by a goal, winning 3-2. Three seems to be a good number for Rio Mesa as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Viviana Marmolejo and
Kayla Golson, who scored all three of Rio Mesa's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 12 so far this season.
Arcadia pushed their record up to 14-2-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 44 goals over those seven matchups. As for Rio Mesa, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6-6.
