The Starmount Rams gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They skirted past West Wilkes 45-42. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Starmount also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Starmount to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordon Dobson, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Jadon Hurt-bailey, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
Starmount's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for West Wilkes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Starmount will challenge Wilkes Central at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wilkes Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. As for West Wilkes, they will head out on the road to face off against Alleghany at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alleghany is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
