The Pacheco Panthers lost against the Johansen Vikings back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Pacheco took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daijah Young, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. Ashley Jimenez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
Johansen was led to victory by Jamie Zarilla and Bethany Albarran. Zarilla scored eight points along with ten steals and eight rebounds, while Albarran dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Zarilla is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brenda Constancio, who scored six points along with three blocks.
Pacheco has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Johansen, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pacheco will square off against the Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lathrop will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Johansen, they will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain House will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
