Softball Recap: Yutan-Mead Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

Yutan-Mead never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Syracuse on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 12-1 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Adie Gale spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Yutan-Mead got a massive performance out of Addi Jones, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits Jones has posted over her last 11 games. Jersey Siske was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Yutan-Mead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Syracuse only posted a batting average of .136.

Yutan-Mead's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Syracuse, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Coincidentally, Yutan-Mead and Syracuse will both be playing Cass the next time they take the field. The Patriots will head out to face the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Rockets will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
