Campbell is 0-7 against Westlake since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Campbell Spartans will look to defend their home field against the Westlake Lions at 7:30 p.m. Campbell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Westlake is ranked 11th).
After soaring to 41 points the game before, Campbell were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were beaten by Carrollton 63-7. Campbell was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-7.
Despite the loss, Campbell saw an underclassman step up: Marlon May rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown. May's longest rush was for an incredible 88 yards.
Meanwhile, Westlake can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against East Coweta as Westlake made off with a 28-7 victory. The victory was just what Westlake needed coming off of a 31-7 defeat in their prior contest.
Westlake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Naeem Odeniyi, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Tomir Bransford was another key contributor, rushing for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
Campbell has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Westlake, their win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Campbell was dealt a bruising 56-14 defeat at the hands of Westlake in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Will Campbell have more luck at home instead of on the road?
