The North Star Cougars will be home for the holidays to greet the McConnellsburg Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. North Star has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
North Star scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They managed a 49-43 win over Shade.
Abby Barnick continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of North Star's points. Another player making a difference was Emily Johnston, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, McConnellsburg came up short against Fairfield last Saturday and fell 40-32. While losing is never fun, McConnellsburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while Fairfield is ranked 154th).
North Star's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6. As for McConnellsburg, they bumped their record down to 1-2 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
