Burney is 0-10 against Redding Christian since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Burney Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Redding Christian Lions at 6:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Burney's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Quincy on the road and fell 63-27. Burney was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-12.
Despite the loss, Burney saw an underclassman step up: Natalia Maldonado scored seven points along with four steals. Maldonado has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Jocelyn Metzger was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Redding Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 47-41 to Quincy.
Burney's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Redding Christian, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-6.
Burney came up short against Redding Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 45-33. Can Burney avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
