Manteca has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the East Union Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Manteca is ranked 148th, while East Union is ranked 129th).
Last Tuesday, Manteca beat Central Catholic 42-33.
Manteca's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Izabella Sanchez, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Ikharo, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, East Union had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points), and they went ahead and made it 15 on Tuesday. They managed a 40-35 win over Sierra.
Manteca has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for East Union, they pushed their record up to 21-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Manteca came up short against East Union in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 55-44. Can Manteca avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
