Absegami is 1-7 against Millville since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Braves will look to defend their home field against the Thunderbolts at 4:00 p.m. Absegami is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Absegami proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Triton 5-3.
Jack Bruscato was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Bruscato was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Madon Wardwell was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Aaron Gilger, who earned one RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, Millville came up short against Delsea on Wednesday and fell 7-2.
Millville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Heacox, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Patrick Tull was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.
Absegami pushed their record up to 16-8-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Millville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Absegami has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Millville struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
