After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Stokes, the Surry Central Golden Eagles were happy to have found some success on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 71-40 victory over Alleghany. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-13.
Tripp Mcmillen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Wilmoth, who scored 10 points along with 3 steals.
When it comes to explaining why Alleghany lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colby Crouse. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points. Crouse scored a full 30% of Alleghany's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zander Russell, who scored 7 points.
The win got Surry Central back to even at 2-2. As for Alleghany, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Surry Central will take on North Stokes at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Alleghany, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Galax at 8:15 p.m.
