The Bonita Bearcats won the last time they faced the West Covina Bulldogs, and things went their way on Thursday too. Bonita simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat West Covina 59-11 at home. Given Bonita's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while West Covina is ranked 645th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bonita's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lexi Mercado, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Acuna, who scored 14 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Bonita and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for West Covina, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Bonita will head out on the road to face off against San Dimas at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully San Dimas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday. As for West Covina, they will square off against Rancho Cucamonga at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
