Basketball Recap: Arianna Mcdowell Key Part of Team Effort in Greenwave Win + How To Watch

After losing to Bessemer City the last time they met, Ashbrook decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Greenwave secured a 37-32 W over the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Greenwave.

Ashbrook got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Arianna McDowell out in front who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 15 rebounds. McDowell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Samaria Lomick, who posted 14 points and six boards.

Ashbrook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Bessemer City saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addy Morehead scored seven points and six rebounds. Morehead also set a new season-high mark in shooting accuracy with 50%.

Ashbrook now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Bessemer City, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.

Ashbrook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 46-7 loss against East Lincoln on the 2nd. As for Bessemer City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-42 defeat against Lincolnton on the 2nd.
