Given Middle Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Falcons are ranked 472nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Middle Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Obataobie Okafor, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasir Hall, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Green Hope lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mason Dean, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Rafik Khismatov, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Middle Creek and bumps their season record up to 10-8. As for Green Hope, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middle Creek will take on the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Apex Friendship has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 240 points over their last four matchups. As for Green Hope, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Hawks at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
