The Mt. Carmel Sundevils suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 69-29 loss at the hands of Fallbrook. Mt. Carmel has not had much luck with Fallbrook recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Mt. Carmel's loss came despite strong showings from Ashley Kaiser and Randi Arcala. Kaiser scored eight points along with two steals, while Arcala scored three points.
Fallbrook's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Claire Nordeen led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 21 points, 16 rebounds, and ten assists. Nordeen also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Grace Nordeen was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds.
Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Fallbrook, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will take on Hoover at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fallbrook, they will head out on the road to face off against Ramona at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ramona will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1230th, while Fallbrook is ranked 343rd).
