Abilene waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 42-34 win over the Monterey Plainsmen. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Plainsmen are ranked 339th).

Abilene's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Monterey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Abilene does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monterey, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Caprock at 7:00 p.m. The Plainsmen will be up against the Longhorns' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.22 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
