The Juniata Indians had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 38-22 win over Mifflinburg on Monday. This was payback for Juniata, who suffered a 52-42 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Juniata to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Shearer, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariska Beward, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals.
Juniata's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Mifflinburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Juniata will head out on the road to face off against Juniata Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mifflinburg, they will be playing at home against Shikellamy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
