The Tri-City Christian Eagles struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (the Point Loma Pointers had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Tri-City Christian took a 55-41 bruising from Point Loma. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Tri-City Christian of the 54-43 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2018.
When it comes to explaining why Tri-City Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Katie Busch. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Busch has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Johnson, who scored seven points.
Leading Point Loma to victory were Rachael Morris and Kylie Wade. Morris dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Wade scored 31 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wade has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Loya, who scored two points along with three steals.
Tri-City Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Point Loma, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-City Christian will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Maranatha Christian at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Maranatha Christian is coming into the game with three straight defeats at home, meaning Tri-City Christian will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Point Loma, they and Lincoln will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Point Loma is facing Lincoln at the right time seeing as Lincoln is stuck on a 19-game losing streak.
