The Cambridge Springs Devils had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past Meadville 60-31 on the road. With Cambridge Springs ahead 30-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Meadville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Megan Paleio , who scored 11 points. Paleio scored a full 35.5% of Meadville's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jayda Gongaware, who scored 8 points.
Cambridge Springs' victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Meadville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Cambridge Springs will be playing in front of their home fans against Slippery Rock at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meadville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jamestown at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
