Baseball Game Preview: Rosemont Wolverines vs. Amador Buffaloes

For the second straight game, Rosemont will face off against Amador. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Rosemont 3.9, Amador 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Rosemont proved they can win big on Friday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Amador. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolverines have posted since March 18, 2025.

Frankie Cervantes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Rosemont is 5-1-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on James Lara, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Rosemont is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Amador, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rosemont has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Amador struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
