Baseball Game Preview: Marin Academy Wildcats vs. University Red Devils

For the second straight game, Marin Academy will face off against University. The Wildcats will host the Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marin Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight defeats, while University will come in with seven straight victories.

Marin Academy lost 22-4 to University on Tuesday.

For University's part, Marco Parcella and Leo Felder made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Parcella pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Felder struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Parcella a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Parcella scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Felder got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jett Messenger was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Nobu Cabrera was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

University hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters every time they've taken the field this season.

University pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Marin Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Marin Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've averaged .517. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
