It was a good run, but the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 42-29 to Westchester. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Long Beach Poly has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Long Beach Poly lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brooklyn Taylor. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Prewitt, who scored no points along with 22 rebounds and two blocks.
Westchester's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mariah Blake, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Blake hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Savannah Myles was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Long Beach Poly's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Westchester, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Long Beach Poly will challenge Lakewood at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Westchester, they will head out on the road to challenge Fairfax at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fairfax is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
