Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the South Platte Blue Knights proved on Tuesday. They blew past Sutherland 65-42. With South Platte ahead 35-15 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
South Platte's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Cheleen, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Cheleen set a new season high mark in steals with five. Isabelle Reichman was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six steals.
Sutherland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fallyn Elfeldt, who scored six points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Story Rasby, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for South Platte and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Sutherland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
South Platte's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wallace at 5:00 p.m. on December 21, 2023. Hopefully Wallace focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Monday. Sutherland will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sandhills/Thedford at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th.
