Alamosa dropped to 14-8 on Saturday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Lamar Thunder by a score of 11-10. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-0 loss two weeks ago.
Shaya Martin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hailie Dupont, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
As for Lamar, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.
On Lamar's side, Carlin Weber was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off eight hits. Weber has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexa Aguilar, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Yahirett Roman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Alamosa has already played their next matchup, a 9-3 loss against La Junta on the 7th. As for Lamar, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-3 defeat against Southeast Colorado on the 7th.
