In what's become a running theme this season, the Northgate Broncos gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They blew past Ygnacio Valley 71-44 at home. Given Northgate's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Ygnacio Valley is ranked 557th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Amelia Schrag, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Myhr, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was K'Si Brooks, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. Brooks has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kasia Brooks, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Northgate pushed their record up to 19-8 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 22.3 points. As for Ygnacio Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season.
Northgate won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Clayton Valley Charter at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Clayton Valley Charter will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Northgate surely won't give up without a fight. Ygnacio Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
