The Cordova Lancers will venture away from home to take on the West Park Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cordova took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Antelope, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lancers had just enough and edged out the Titans 2-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted since March 1st.
Levi Nyberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Alfonso Maya was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
Meanwhile, West Park entered their tilt with Kennedy on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Cougars 33-0. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Bradley Hunter looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Jayden McNeal was a standout: he went 4-for-6 with six RBI, four runs, and two triples. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Ethan Silva was another key player, going 5-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
West Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
West Park pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cordova, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6-1 record this season.
